What’s for Lunch? – Elite Avenue Edition (Part 4)

Elite Avenue is basically buzzing with restaurants now. A few restaurants had come & gone but here are some that were still there at the moment. =P

KO B.Q. Korean Restaurant

Situated at one of the corner lot was KO B.Q. – one of the longest running restaurant in Elite. Frankly speaking we’d only been there once and ordered their lunch set for 2 which consisted of kimchi stew & a huge portion of Chicken Dak Galbi. Basically this set could easily fed 4 people to be honest! Our eyes popped out when we saw it being served.

Plenty of Free Banchan

The kimchi stew was not as thick and flavourful as we liked – we still preferred kimchi stew from Daorae or even the newly opened Ssambap (link) for a heavier flavoured (namely more sour & spicy) Kimchi Stew.

For Chicken Dak Galbi, the server brought the gas stove with on our table and fried in on the spot. It was definitely a mountain-ful of FOOD. It tasted okay – not really a standout unfortunately. At the end we could not finish our food and ended up takeaway the leftover. LOL!!!

Uncle Jang Dak Galbi

Speaking of Dak Galbi, there was also Uncle Jang – a quite famous Dak Galbi joint now opening in Elite as well. Frankly speaking this place was definitely not too suitable for lunch as one would smell like Dak Galbi after the meal.

I noticed they were doing some lunch buffet promotion as well but we were ordering ala carte during our visit few months ago. The restaurant was almost empty during our visit and we ordered the Dak Galbi for 2 pax with Ramen & egg add-on.

More time is needed!

The server fried the concoction right in front of us and I must say the Dak Galbi in Uncle Jang was definitely better than the one from KO B.Q. We did not order extra spicy flavor but the normal flavor had already fulfilled Malaysian Heavy Palate with its slight spicy and sweet taste.

The food was aplenty and 3 of us couldn’t finish it at the end even though we only ordered portion for 2pax. The only complaint – it was quite oily especially when you ate towards the end. FAT!!! Anyway, my colleague’s husband had the funniest comment – it tasted like a glorified version of Indian fried noodle! *facepalm*

K Food

Since we were on a roll today with Korea Food – let’s talk about yet another Korean restaurant in Elite – K Food. K Food was kind of like the poor man’s Korean food as the price was cheaper than most Korean restaurant. Quality Vs price there if you know what I mean. *wink*

Free Banchan

We’d only been there once & ordered their kimchi stew & spicy Korean fried noodle. Both items were very mediocre. I think the hubby’s home cook Extra Spicy Instant noodle from Korea tasted much better than this. So go buy your own Korean noodle and cooked it yourself! LOL!!!

Wakaba Japanese Noodles

Let’s take a moment to travel from Korea to its neighbor Japan for a minute. Wakaba was famed for their home made noodles with a downside of being expensive. I think they did have some loyalty stamp card for free food to attract returning customer.

More Choices

We’d tried the Yasai Shoyu Ramen, Wakame Soba & Chasyu Shoyu Ramen – all of them were mediocre and not really spectacular. Frankly speaking Wakaba would not jumped into our head if we were craving for ramen – Japin or Miyabi would. I guess this contributed to the almost empty restaurant whenever we walked pass. Anyway, Wakaba might be a good choice if one would be craving for ramen and in Elite avenue at the moment. =P
