Last Sunday afternoon we decided to take a walk in the Dorset countryside. When most English manor houses were built, the grounds were laid out with parkland and beautiful trees, the magnificence of which would not be realised in their creators lifetime.
We wanted to see some autumn leaves and so we headed to the village of Littlebredy, where I once lived.
The tree in the middle looked as if it's leaves had fallen on the ground simultaneously.
The source of the River Bride was dammed to form a lake in the 1800's. This area is sometimes referred to as Dorset's miniature version of Stourhead. (a magnificent National Trust property just over the border in Wiltshire).
The swan swam towards us hoping for some food, unfortunately we had nothing with us, but my husband John managed to capture these two pictures of it.
We were amazed at the colour and beauty around us. John took most of the photographs for a change. He has got fed up with the number I have been taking over the last few months and wants to join in!
This one is my favourite - the colours are fantastic. One of our wedding photos was taken here by the waterfall.
What does autumn mean to you? I hate the shorter days, but I do love the way the colours of the leaves change so dramatically and take on such varied hues of red, orange and brown.
We managed to spot these fungi too, I 'm a bit behind with my posts and I know Halloween has been and gone but this Dorset pub had such a wonderful display that I had to share it!
